Enrolled Nurse
Bourke Multi-Purpose Service

About the role:
If you are an Enrolled Nurse with a strong clinical skill set, a passion for the best possible client care, and would like the opportunity to expand your skills working across many specialties, then we have an opportunity for you.

Our rural-based multidisciplinary facilities cover primary health, child and family health, community mental health, and alcohol and drug services. Some facilities also offer emergency, acute care, aged care, and allied health. Our rural-based positions offer the opportunity to expand your skills and fast-track your career through gaining a breadth of experience that takes years to achieve in larger facilities. All of this in a stimulating, inclusive, and supportive workplace.

Working under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse you’ll support and provide quality care for patients. You will need to communicate effectively with patients and other health care team members, and importantly be an active participant in fostering our culture, lead by the values of collaboration, openness, respect, and empowerment.

In a small, close-knit team you will be well supported and your dedication will be seen and appreciated. You will be an integral member of the community and you’ll see not only the results of your care but the appreciation of the community for the role you play in their health. What’s more, you’ll have the career opportunities only a large organisation such as Western NSW Local Health District with close to 90 facilities and over 7500 staff, can provide.

This truly is a rewarding position that offers career progression.

This is a targeted position in accordance with GSE Rule 26: Employment of eligible persons. Whereby Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are encouraged to apply and, where found suitable, will be given higher priority under affirmative action in order to improve access to employment and career opportunities. In the event there are no suitable Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander applicants, then applications from non-Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander applicants will be considered.

Where you’ll be working:
The Bourke Multipurpose Service (MPS) has 35 beds, 15 of which are residential aged care. The facility has 24-hour emergency care, acute and sub-acute/non-acute services including rehabilitation and palliative care, ante-natal and post-natal services, elective surgical services, ambulatory care, renal, outpatient, and visiting specialist services, and a range of primary and community health services including child and family health and mental health, drug and alcohol services.

Bourke, on the banks of the spectacular Darling River, is situated 370 kilometers northwest of Dubbo, is close to the Queensland border and is considered to be the gateway to the far west of NSW.

The region’s prosperity is built around the pastoral, irrigation, tourism, and service industries which are strongly supported by a wide range of attractions and activities.

Bourke has a population of just under 2000 people with 38 percent identifying as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander, making Bourke a unique and rewarding place to work.

As a remote area position, this position may offer incentives to prospective employees which can include relocation assistance, accommodation subsidy, professional development and flexible work practices. If you are the successful candidate you may discuss these incentives before accepting the position.
