Job description

As the Financial Crime Analyst, you are responsible for reviewing and investigating all unusual customer behaviour across Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Counter Terrorism Financing (CTF), fraud and scam matters.

Through your support, Great Southern Bank can deliver better-value banking to our customers, while protecting the bank and the community from criminal activity.

Responsibilities:

  • Investigate AML/CTF, fraud and scam matters by gathering and analysing information to establish whether escalation to AUSTRAC or other regulatory/law enforcement agencies is required.
  • Your investigations may result in escalating the customer to senior management for a decision to retain or exit based on their activity and behavior.
  • This is a critical process that supports Great Southern Bank to be compliant from a legal and regulatory perspective.


Skills & Experience:

  • Experience/understanding of financial crime risks across the financial services industry, including AML/CTF compliance and fraud;
  • Demonstrable experience and/or exposure to criminal investigation techniques including evidence management and presentation and understanding of relevant legal procedures;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with high attention to detail;
  • Strong negotiation, planning and organisational skills;
  • Ability to work in a fast-moving, agile environment, including autonomously with minimal supervision; and
  • Advanced computer skills - Microsoft Office Suite.
