VGA has an opening for a creative Mechanical Engineering Learning Specialist who’ll design, develop, and facilitating training activities for our dealer networks development, upskilling their individual business requirements including but not limited to dealer key specialist mechanics, front line service and parts support staff to upskill Volvo Group staff across Australia, New Zealand, and the South Pacific Islands.
Success in this role will be measured on the uplift of the skills set within the dealer network, whilst meeting Volvo Groups objective “To be the most desired and successful transport solution provider in the world.” whilst promoting Volvo Groups Values of Customer Success, Trust, Passion, Change and Performance.

About the role:
Using your skills and experience as a certified Volvo Trainer and engineer, you’ll maintain and build on our extensive learning and development portfolio that empowers our dealer network with a training and development strategy that supports the individuals learning development needs in this specialist field, ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction.

Key duties include:
  • Development of learning & development packages to further develop our mechanics and front-line supporting staff skills, enabling a high level of customer service including diagnostics, repair and to maintain on our current and emerging products.
  • To keep up to date with new emerging technologies for all new Mack Trucks, UD Trucks, Volvo Trucks and Volvo Bus products, systems and procedures ensure a high level of expertise to be able launch emerging projects to upskill key personal, within the dealer network as new technologies emerge into the market.
  • Design new appropriate development programs and deliver the training packages into the dealer network supporting staff development needs to safeguard those new products, ensuring those offered are in line with customer expectations.
  • Design a wide range of development programs in multiple formats including but not limited to Instructor lead packages, Web-based e-learnings, Virtual sessions and on the job training guides.
  • Facilitate the delivery of these hand-on learning and development training packages mainly focused on technical workshop & front-line supporting staff
  • Work with key stakeholders representing dealer and internal managers to monitor and support dealer development requirements.
  • Provide necessary reports to stakeholders representing dealer and internal managers to monitor training and development progress within each dealer
  • Provide necessary reports and figures periodically to comply with training and development KPI's set by the Volvo Group.
  • Support the develop and operation of the Regional Training Centres across Australia, New Zealand, and South Pacific Islands.
  • Ensure compliance with VGA's Environmental Policy, Quality Assurance System and Workplace Health & Safety requirements, and in general take any reasonable steps and precautions to protect or minimise harm in the workplace, its employees, and the environment.
About you:
  • Certified Volvo Trainer or equivalent.
  • Relevant post-graduate qualifications would be advantageous.
  • Mechanical engineering degree or equivalent would be advantageous to support our key mechanical and electrical specialists with our new emerging technologies .
Business Experience & Attributes
  • Extensive experience within the heavy vehicle sector.
  • Extensive knowledge of Volvo Truck & Bus, Mack and UD Trucks heavy vehicle products, services, and IT computer systems.
  • Extensive mechanical experience in diagnosing and problem-solving heavy-duty vehicles.
  • Excellent communication skills at all levels of the organisation including liaising with Dealer management and key stakeholders.
  • High level of business acumen.
  • Project management experience.
  • High level of business acumen, frontline customer service and leadership with at extensive managerial experience.
