Purpose of the Role
The Security Director, Information & Analysis (I&A) and Assistance, Australia & Pacific directs and leads the security team for the Australia and Pacific region and the global security capabilities in the Australia and Pacific regions.
The role will oversee the delivery of market leading security I&A content across the spectrum of high-priority threat to life alerts through to long-term forecasting and analysis in addition to overseeing the delivery of market leading security incident management, advisory and crisis response services in the region.
Additional responsibilities include ensuring client and internal situational awareness of regional security events and the corresponding outlook and advice by collaborating with the relevant Assistance Centre leadership personnel from the Operations, Flight Desks and Assistance Travel teams ensuring the highest standards of security operational service delivery.
Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage regional security analysts and specialists’ output, inclusive of analytical line, advice and outlook, in internal and external deliverables, including individual client requests for assistance and 24/7 escalation support to the security desks.
- Oversee and direct the regional operational preparedness for the Australia & Pacific region.
- Oversee the Priority Information Requirements and analysis components of risk assessments for the deployment of Incident Management Team(s) to provide on-the-ground support to clients or regional assistance.
- Collaborate with relevant senior stakeholders in the Medical, Research, Aviation & Maritime and Editorial teams, in addition to Global and regional Security leadership to ensure excellent of analysis output and operational planning, in addition to overall economy of effort and efficiency.
- Direct the maintenance of client facing digital security background information, ensuring it is up to date, compliant with group standards, reflective of the current security environment.
- As required travel to countries in Australia & Pacific to assess the current security situation, local analysis provider capabilities and expand the existing network of security intelligence and assistance contacts to further support clients and aid operational planning.
- Manage the strategic regional relationships with third party security contacts.
- Support the Content Sales and Marketing teams in the articulation of International SOS’ services and in providing senior functional expertise in the Australia & Pacific client facing forums such as webinars, podcasts.
Skills & Knowledge
- Extremely strong knowledge of the political and security landscape within Australia & Pacific and very strong knowledge of the global geopolitical landscape.
- Extremely strong knowledge of the security risk management best practices and principals across a diversity of risk environments, supported by in-country experience in challenging/hostile environments.
- Knowledge of directing and managing all stages of intelligence cycle including multi-source direction and collection.
- In-depth ability to critically analyse multiple streams of security, logistics and threat-based information under time pressure and produce actionable analysis and advice for senior audiences.
- Knowledge of and experience in managing all stages of an operational intelligence cycle.
- Strong IT skills including Microsoft Office Suite and other applications.
Ideal Candidate
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience in security analysis delivery, managing an all-source intelligence cycle, with a focus on Australia & Pacific, including deployed experience in hostile and/or challenging environments in military, government, NGO, journalism, academic or private sector roles in Asia.
- Experience in planning complex security assistance operations.
- Business development, consultancy, and sales experience.
- Experience in conducting profile specific security risk assessments.
- Quality management experience
Qualification
- Masters degree (or relevant professional training) in a field related to security intelligence, international politics, international relations or similar.
Language
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills including ability to explain complex situations and advice to non-expert audiences in English.
- Other language proficiency desirable.
Travel & Work Rotation
- Some travel, sometimes on urgent request.
- Occasional evening/weekend work based on operational requirements
