About the role:
As our Substation Construction Manager you will be responsible for the coordination and management of project field activities as specified by the Client, within a geographical area of the United Energy network.
Your role will also include:
- Responsible for the co-ordination and management of all construction activities within a zone substation (inclusive of underground and overhead); focusing on safety and ensuring the project risks are identified and managed.
- Managing the day to day construction work and procurement activities, resource requirements and project issues .
- Manage field resources in line with project organisation structure, ensuring that the projects are completed to Client’s expectations – safely, on time, to approved scope, quality and environmental standards.
- Manage internal and external stakeholders relations with sub-contractors, the client and internal staff.
- Coordinate sub-contractors and the quality of their work.
- Provide accurate input into forecasting of the program resource & financial requirements
- Assist Project Manager & Estimators (as required) – scoping, bid tendering, cost estimation and construction schedules.
- Improve operational and project efficiencies and performance.
- Organise all aspects of commissioning and punch list development.
About you:
To be successful in this role your resume should demonstrate:
- Engineering qualification and/or electrical trade qualifications and/or sound experience in the electrical distribution industry.
- Detailed working understanding of the electrical network and the structure of the Victorian electrical market including key participants.
- A current Victorian driver’s license is required to be maintained at all times.
- Understanding of Health & Safety, Training and Employee Relations.
- Ability to prioritise and schedule activities to optimise time and resource utilisation.
- Computer literacy skills sufficient to operate common work processing, spread sheet and SAP.
- Estimating for tender purposes.
- Well Developed interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal) – required
- Successfully operate in an environment where there are tight timeframes and conflicting priorities and options.
